i feel like i'm a pale imitation of myself these days... work is crazy these days and the kids' sports schedule is chaotic (somehow my 14 year old has a baseball game, lacrosse practice and hockey tryouts all tomorrow (Tuesday) night... gaaaaaah!)...

Cool shot

Still, you are creating beautiful black and whiteness.

Great street shot and use of sun flare.

I love this shot. The light flares and processing are great.

This works! Like the flare and the dark tones -- feels a bit spooky.

Fantastic street capture, Northy. We have an eighteen year old that's at university and he does that too! Managing to triple book himself quite regularly. His are theatrical, sport and environmental based commitments though. The joys of parenthood, which I hadn't experienced before meeting my lovely partner, some five years ago! Sometimes I miss my ordered minimal old life, but not for very long... ;-)

This is amazing Northy. I love the light and movement in this image.

Great capture, lovely light well done. I know the feeling I wonder how we managed all those years being in three places at once, but you will.

So interesting. First, great shot. Feels like a classic postcard.

Second, I've been thinking about this article in the Atlantic, http://m.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2013/10/the-case-against-high-school-sports/309447/ , and would have assumed things were better in Canada. I guess they still are, though, in terms of prioritization of school... yes?

Whoops sent it prematurely. You get the gist though

You still manged to crank out a decent shot, I quite like it! Nice lighting and these trams and the processing make it look like an old photo from the '80s or so.

I feel your pain regarding crazy schedules. Since my daughter is in the school as well, we have often conflicting appointments and sometimes it takes a small miracle to manage them all. It puts so much strees on you, it's very difficult for my wife and for the whole family. Respect to all the mothers out there!

@squamloon oh yes... Nothing like the states I think... My kids (at least two of them) really love sports more for the sake of the activity than anything else... And they don't play at a high competitive level... School def comes first!

I like high contrast cities and flare, so... :D

Fabulous shot, stunning!

Love the light in this.
I don't think you're a pale imitation, I think we just gravitate to what we know when we're busy/tired.

Sounds like a crazy schedule, but a wonderful shot. Fav for me.
September 24th, 2013
Good luck! Your shot conveys your feelings - great use of harsh reflections.
September 25th, 2013
this has such a vintage urban feel - great

That's crazy and it sounds like none of the coaches ever talk to one another when they're scheduling these things! You did a great job in coming up with a shot within that crazy schedule. I agree with ME- it's really got a great vintage turn of the century city feel to it.

sorry you are feeling overwhelmed....i feel like that sometimes and i don't even HAVE kids! lmao....so i can only imagine. I do think this shot shows that emotion well, though!
