i shoot lots at subway stations partly because i'm inevitably at one and partly because they have wonderful lines and intriguing light... i went back to old mill station this morning in a quest for more photos for this thing i'm working on (still not there yet), and it being early-ish on a Saturday morning, there was hardly anyone there... the thing i like about Old Mill Station is that it's got windows and at one end it is open to the real world... which allows for interesting light that you don't generally get at other stations... as i was all alone at that end of the platform, i decided to put myself in the shot... seemed only fair to use the light on myself since i use it on everyone else :)
for the 5+2 theme which this week is "illumination"
tx all for the lovely comments and favs on last night's subway station shot :)
This is another rubbish photo......... Oh! All right then, it's another B&W classic! You can go off people you know, especially when they take better piccies than you do!
I really like this, in a favey kind of way. I never tire of your subway shots because they are all different, edgy, intriguing. How do you have time for all this shooting, processing, family, commenting? Do you sleep?
Very cool, really like this one, and yes, I do think it counts as high key. I also thought you were levitating for a bit, but I couldn't find your shadow. :)
@archaeofrog no shadows... i think because the light is coming from all around and it's over-exposed... there's a hint of a reflection which you can just barely see here... i checked the original straight from the camera and it isn't more pronounced there... that's just the way this one came out...
this is really cool - and yes the daylight makes a huge difference. If you keep taking them I won't feel so about guilty how many tube and train shots I take - but our stations are packed.
