1. in a left-handed, wrong, or contrary direction
2. The first known use of the word comes from the mid 16th century, when the word was used to describe that particular kind of bad hair day when unruly hair stands on end or simply falls the wrong way.
Sort of like Tina Turner's mop in the early 90s....my hair does not look al widdershins in the morning when it is long, but right now it is still growing out from being shorter and it is a scary mess when I get up. Great selfie!
@still_beachradish gosh! it never occurred to me that someone might not know about struwwelpeter... and yet, it's the first thing that popped into my head when i saw that definition... (the 2nd thing was my son with long hair who refuses to brush it ;p)
