sooooo.... this is something i've had in my head for a while, but i can't quite get it to work as i'm visualizing it... posting in the hopes that someone can read my mind and tell me what it needs to make it work... or that it doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of working ever ;p
I do see the vision...i am not sure I connect with a link between the letter A and pawn ?
Oh..now I wonder too... ...did you try to adjust the perspective of the letter mask to match the image? ( vanishing point in ps?) ie ,,,,match the plane of view? does that make sense?
I sort of feel inadequate that your purpose here is not immediately obvious to me. What I do see is some highly professional graphics editing that I find pleasing but, as much as I've tried, I can't figure out the message you're sending. If you hadn't said there was a meaning to this, I would have been happy to accept the strong abstract qualities... now, I"m a little confused as to what I should be feeling/ thinking.
Oh, I meant to say that it's very redolent of mc esher's work... but not quite. Perhaps that's the issue you're wrestling with. And now at 4.30am, I'm going to bed and further deliberations can wait until to tomorrow.
I like it - a lot. But I think maybe the perspective of the 'A' is out a bit...or possibly a different font...not sure...but I love the pawn and the DOF
Okay as often happens I've been off in search mode this time Wikipedia looking for a relation between A and pawn. I found that one of the positions of a pawn is A2 but your pawn doesn't appear to be on A2. Then there is the fairy piece Alfil whose notation is A. I am probably way out in left field. But the problem you seem to have is the black squares are not distinguishable from the black areas of the A. You need dimension to the "a" so it becomes distinguishable. But how you do that I am not sure. And as previously stated I may be way off the mark. But it was fun to play with and learn.
