Allspice by olivetreeann

Allspice

Allspice is a tropical American evergreen tree having opposite simple leaves and small white flower clusters. The dried, nearly ripe berries of this plant are used as a spice, especially in baking. After fiddling around with all kinds of processing effects, I finally decided on this one. I like the blend between the original picture and the Impressionist effect. And now for some reason I feel like baking a cake...
cool

The effect reminds me of the grated spice. Good choice!

Love the processing ... great colors! I went to picmonkey last night and found it easy enough to use. I like picnik a little better, but that won't be an option soon. For some reason, the photo that I processed on picmonkey wouldn't go back into my same file. Does that mean that I need to start a new file for it, Ann? I always uploaded onto Picasssa and then easily moved into picnik. Can't do that with the picmonkey.

@kerristephens Thank you Kerri!
@allie912 Thank you Allison- yes I think that's why I ended up with this- it reminded me of the spice.
@digitalrn Thanks Rick! I am trying to stay away from the sweet stuff so maybe I'll just pretend I made a cake!
@karenann Thanks Karenann. Well, I guess you do need to start a new file if it won't save where you want it to. I usually upload my pictures to my computer (using the date as my file name) and then upload from there to Picmonkey. When I go to save my processed shot, I save it individually (usually use the name of the picture- such as Allspice for this one) rather than put it back into the file I pulled the picture from (if that makes sense). I don't use Picassa so I'm not sure how that would fit into the process. That's pretty much the process I use for all the processing sites- Picnik, Picmonkey, iPiccy and BeFunky.
@kimmistephens Thank you Kimmi!
@httpgeffed lol Colleen- no he's not- but he's French. We all have our burdens to bear- hehe.
@mrssmith Thanks Carla- brought back memories of baking with mom.
@summerfield Thanks Vikki! The "hang" is called "Just Keep Hitting Buttons until Something Looks Good."

I love your processing here. yes Allspice is a great spice..I use it quite a bit in homemade soups together with lots of other spices..my special red cabbage dish has allspice, cloves, a touch of nutmeg and lots of cinnimon and brown suger in it..it's so delicious that lots of my friends say they eat it as a dessert..we like it warm with beef and pork dishes.

@sarasdadandmom Thanks Terry! You know me, I'm a bundle of information!
@tklein Thanks Tina!
@steeler Thanks Howard!
@nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole! Yes, I thought about the cake, but in the end I knew it would be better if I didn't have that temptation staring me in the face all week. There are no longer youngsters here to help eat it! And Jeff is not a big sweets-eater. So no cake pictures this time around. Maybe when my granddaughter comes to visit this summer.
@alia_801 Thanks Alia! The cake was put on hold,but it was a fun thought.

Nice pic. I love allspice in savoury dishes. It's used quite a lot in middle-eastern food - Lebanese for example (if I remember correctly)
