30 Days in June- Day 30 by olivetreeann

30 Days in June- Day 30

Technically I took this shot yesterday, but I could go out and repeat it today. However with the temperature already in the 90's at 11 a.m., I'm not going to! It's the final shot of the 30 Days in June and for me it's not only a "take another look" shot, it seems to be a reflection of what so many folks have said about the challenge in general. It sparked their creativity, encouraged them to approach their pictures in new and different ways and had them looking at their surroundings and themselves in a new light. Sometimes when you stretch like that it makes you feel as if you're standing on "shaky ground". You ask yourself, "Is this right? Is it really me? Will people like this shot?" The reward sometimes comes from others' approval, but most of the time it comes from within when you recognize you've grown in your own confidence and abilities. For you there may be nothing familiar in this shot, other than the fact that it has some trees and sky. It's fun for me because at first I saw the outside reflection, but then realized I could look directly through the front windows and out the back windows of my cathedral ceiling! Add to that the faint appearance of my blinds and glass pieces inside on the sill of the front window and you don't really know which way to turn it, so I deliberately put it on its side. After all you are supposed to take another look!

Thanks to all who participated in this challenge. It was so fun to see all the different approaches to each part and read the comments and observations of others. On to July now- what will you do next?
@vposey Sorry Vickie- I missed listing you above!

Stay cool friend!

Has a wonderful mystical; feel to it! Unfortunately I fell off the bus a bit with this challenge, largely because I went on a road trip for 8 days! Upon my return my inspiration seemed to have stayed on the road, but I hope it is finding its way home. Thanks so much for getting the challenge going in the first place. I'm on the look out for a theme for July, there were some intesesting things mentioned in the thread at some point!

This is a neat photo . . . sounds like it will be a very hot day for you!
June 30th, 2012
Very cool shot
June 30th, 2012
Very creative!
June 30th, 2012
Interesting photo, at first glance gives me an uneasy feeling. The photo has a 3 dimensional affect, reminding me of those 3D posters.
June 30th, 2012
An interesting idea,and it turned out nicely.
June 30th, 2012
A very nice last of the month picture..by looking at it I picture the heat wave you and we're also having running right through the lovely green of our tree.
I didn't participate but will have a quick look at one or two of your partners in crime to see what they posted.
June 30th, 2012
Lovely shot that seems to have a mildly surreal feel to it nicely captured.
June 30th, 2012
Lovely effects and creative processing.
June 30th, 2012
Thanks for the gentle reminder that we really shouldn't doubt ourselves and our abilities. I think that's really important. The reflection turned out nicely for a second look. I hope you are doing okay today.

Wonderful shot Ann

@httpgeffed Thanks Colleen! I'm in the air conditioning now!
@salza Thanks Sally! That can happen to the best of us! Here's a July challenge to check out- designed by Alia: http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/13208/july-thumbnail-challenge.
@kimmistephens Thanks Kimmi- yes we're nearing 100 again!
@kerristephens Thanks Kerri!
@ruthmouch Thank you Ruth!
@rhubbard Thanks Rich. Yes, I think the reflection and the fact that you're actually looking through glass gives it that feeling of dimension.
@digitalrn Thanks Rick! I just happened to see it- knew it was the shot for today!
@bruni Thanks Bruni! I know the others will appreciate your views. It was a fun challenge from start to finish for me.
@zshadowwalker Thanks Adrian! I felt that too- particularly with the other window showing through. You can see them better when the picture is upright.
@cimes1 Thanks Carole! It's sooc this time. I didn't even try to sharpen it.
@mrssmith Thanks Carla! I'm finding that I'm far more creative when I don't think twice about the picture or the words. It's best to fine tune later, not before. I am doing better today, but this weather has really done a number on my arthritis- the joints in my fingers are really hurting! I finally broke down and took some Tylenol. They should feel better soon. Thank you so much for asking. I hope you are doing better too!
@bkbinthecity Thanks Brian!

Cool shot!! You have me looking at it from all angles!!! :)

@jesperani Thanks Jennifer! Glad you like it! A tongue twister for the eyes!

Great shot Ann: the sort of image I often spent positive words for but I've not been brave to try yet! like many other techniques I've seen here on 365. As time passes by, I feel like I tend to keep trying over and over the same things instead of experimenting new stuff. I guess weekly/monthly challenges are perfect for this: I took part to some at the beginning of my project and learnt alot

Thanks for the challenge. I really enjoyed it. I linked it to june-word and my own desire to journal my day and it brought a real spark back into my daily photo. Thanks again.

@woot Thanks Davide- I'm glad you tried it. They have been helpful to me in that the send me in a direction each day, but I choose what to shoot. I suppose I could think things up myself- but I actually like the balance between something prescribed and my own creative twist on it.
@ubobohobo Thank you Margaret! I am so glad you enjoyed the challenge- and I think it's great you combined the two! All the more to work with and be challenged by. Happy July!!

Ann did I thank you for the fav. on my field workers..not too sure if I did. ..it's such a pleasure to know that someone likes my picture so much to add it as a fav. thank you Ann.

Love the perspective and the shakiness. Congratulations on completing your challenge so successfully.
July 1st, 2012
@bruni You're welcome Bruni! I really loved the nostalgic feel of that one!
@allie912 Thanks Allison! I have to laugh- what if I didn't finish it? I'm the one who designed it!! The best part was not so much that I did finish it, but seeing how all the people who participated got something out of it.

Very nice image! Love the reflection, it is very creatively done!
July 1st, 2012
@sharritta Thanks Sharon! It certainly was an eye-catcher as far as reflections go.
July 1st, 2012
now I have a crick in my neck from looking at every possible angle. Worth it, though.
July 1st, 2012
Great Job Ann!! This Challenge sure did make the month fly by!! If so i may try ..I just think i am ready to do some freestly for awhile..But It was Great Doing the 30 days in June Challenge!!!! Great Shot! Made me take Another Look for sure!!! :)
July 1st, 2012
I like what you say about challenges and how one can think especially if it is not the norm!
July 1st, 2012
Love all the colours and patterns in this! Thought of doing a 1-10 this month to 'go' with my previous alphabet month, but finding them in shapes... might well get stuck by 5! :)
July 1st, 2012
Cool pic! Great reflections and colours and sneak peek into your room! You summed up what I love about challenges too (that and they stop me having to think too hard about what to point the camera at most of the time!). Hope you have fun with the July one :)
July 1st, 2012
ooopsy! lost my comment again from yesterday. i can't decide if the tree was horizontal or if it was just the effect of the reflection. i still can't figure it out but i like the drama this photograph evokes. it is like of someone musing and can't come to a decision when all the answers are right there before him. i'm talking from experience, of course! the challenge was fun and i especially like the selfless selfie part (i could be so self-centred sometimes!). it was like looking inside oneself and asking what am i really made of? who came up with that idea, you or alia? i'm guessing it's you. :-)
July 1st, 2012
Great shot!
July 1st, 2012
Wow! Great perspective!
July 1st, 2012
@dmariewms lol sorry about the crick Marie, but I'm glad you like the shot!
@ellimae Thanks Ellen- safe travels to PA (you'll be on the other side of the state from me, but we'll be experiencing the same weather!)
@maggiemae Thanks Maggie! That is one of the things I like about the challenges- the keep me away from a "normal" routine in my pictures.
@filsie65 Thanks Phil! You can find them- things like spatulas and such make nice abstracts for the numbers.
@alia_801 Thanks Alia! I know I'm going to have fun with it. I've got my star shot planned for today and already have my colors planned out!
@summerfield Thanks Vikki! I knew by telling everyone I'd put it on its side it would still be a "tongue twister for the eye"! As far as the selfless-selfies, Alia and I are in that together! We both hate selfies and will avoid them in any way possible.
@paulavdmerwe Thank you Paula!
@groovygirlrn Thank you Sheri!

@ellimae @filsie65 Ellen and Phil, Alia has set up a challenge for July with weekly themes which might be a nice balance for you (and it includes numbers Phil!). It's open ended enough to allow you to free-style, but points you in a direction if you're looking for some ideas. http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/13208/july-thumbnail-challenge

Great image.

A big thank you to you for setting it up, had heaps of fun, it helped me with finding new ideas & different ways to use ny camera for photos, following Jeff's movie challenge this month
July 2nd, 2012
@la_photographic Thanks Laura!
@wenbow Thanks Wendy! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Have fun with the movie challenge. I'll probably do some- don't know if I'll get 10, but I liked some of the possibilities.

Bev
Very cool shot. I love the reflection. The focus is perfect. Great job!
July 2nd, 2012
@prttblues Thank you Bev- I'm not sure there's a lot in focus here- I think I moved when I took the shot.
July 2nd, 2012
@summerfield I think the selfless selfies were @olivetreeann's idea, but I was definitely behind her all the way. I can't imagine why anyone would ever want to take a self-portrait pic... at least without ETSOOIing it into unrecognisability... :)
July 2nd, 2012
Nice reflection and I don't blame you, it's way to hot! :-)
July 2nd, 2012
@vposey Thanks Vickie! A little cooler today thanks to a brief rainstorm yesterday. ahhhh!
July 2nd, 2012
What an amazing photo! Beautiful reflections and repeat designs are abundant. WOW!
July 2nd, 2012
@sandier Thanks Sandie! A happy accident in many ways- but a fitting finish to the monthly challenge!
