The symbol of the Olympic Games is made up of five interlocking rings, colored blue, yellow, black, green, and red on a white background. Baron Pierre de Coubertain who was responsible for establishing the modern Olympic games originally designed the symbol in 1912. He is quoted as explaining the design represented all the nations who were participating in the Olympics at that time in this way, "The six colors (which includes the background) combined reproduce the colors of all the nations, with no exceptions. The blue and yellow of Sweden, the blue and white of Greece, the tri-colors of France, England and America, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Hungary, the yellow and red of Spain next to the novelties of Brazil or Australia, with old Japan and new China. Here is truly an international symbol."
I decided to continue to use my "model" from yesterday for the remainder of the week. I think last month's thumbnail challenge has gotten stuck in my creative bonnet!
Well, I'm off to rest my back for a while. I was helping a friend today and boy am I sore!! I'll be checking in a little later!
@maggiemae Thanks Maggie! Same here- mostly natural anti-infalmatory stuff but it works really well to bring the swelling down. Feeling pretty good after dinner and some Olympic viewing time. (o: @groovygirlrn Thanks Sheri! @pandorasecho Thanks Dixie! @sharritta Thanks Sharon! A group of us did a challenge last month where each week we went for a pattern that would emerge when you looked at the calendar view. If you click on my calendar and then go to the month of July, you'll see what I mean. @wenbow Thanks Wendy! @sfeldphotos Thanks Sam! @httpgeffed Thanks Colleen! @prttblues Thanks Bev! @lyoungs1023 Thanks Elizabeth! @daisy Thanks Kathryn! @bkbinthecity Thanks Brian! @mrssmith Thanks Carla! Feeling pretty good after watching some of the Olympics and having dinner. @zandme Thanks Tasha! I'm feeling much better now- ate some dinner and watched some of the Olympics. @eudora Thanks Diane!
Thanks to all! Just took it easy this evening and now I'm feeling fine. Ready for a good night's sleep too!
@henrir Thanks Henri- let me see, what did I do on this one? I think I inverted it and then added a blue tint on it. Then I added the pixelate effect but I decreased the size of the pixels to practically nothing so that it looked speckled and not dotted. I hope that makes sense. @melorac Thanks Carole! @lyno Thanks Lyn! Feeling pretty good today after moving more boxes and stuff for Judy. It's good to move- I can be way too sedentary! @summerfield Thanks Vikki! I'm behind on viewing everyone's pictures. Will catch up tonight- at least somewhat!
So the Olympic rings are 100 years old this year. I never knew that. I have slipped the disc in my back and know exactly how you are feeling. Hope you are on the mend soon.
