Today's July word is computer or geek. I am not a geek (although sometimes I do wish I understood computers a bit better!), but I do have a computer- and it's all mine! I'm still getting the hang of this fellow. He doesn't have the same set-up as our old dinosaur in the back room, but I like the bigger screen and how it makes my pictures look. So it looks like we'll be friends until his parts wear out (which I hope won't be for a long time!).
Congrats on a computer of your own. Treat it well, don't feed it liquids, and it will have a long and happy life! Lov ehte image with the stars all around its base.
Thank you Brian, Taffy, Kerri, Dione, Timothy, Sally, Damon, Alia, Jennifer and Rick! I'm enjoying my laptop to be sure! For those of you who liked the stars, they are one of Ribbet's new features called "bokeh". It seemed like a fun little addition to a rather simple picture.
Computers make the world go around! Well, that and love. Is this a new laptop for you? Does it have Windows 8? I am curious, as people have really struggled with that operating system.
@espyetta Thanks Marybeth! Yes, it's new to me. After hubby complained and complained about how much I was on the computer for this, that and 365, I took some of the money I earned cleaning Judy's house and bought it. I had really wanted to upgrade my camera, but I was really getting sick of the belly-aching! lol Anyway, yes it does have Windows 8. It's definitely not as user-friendly as the older versions of Windows, but that's because it's set up so differently. I am getting used to some of it, but what I don't like is that there is no manual- at least with this computer. And where most computers come with a lot of things installed (like games and a word processor) with this program you have to sign up for things and I can't tell if I'm going to get it for free, or have to pay. But the main thing I bought it for was my pictures and 365 and that I have figured out, so, so far, it's all good! Bottom line, it'd probably be better if I had Windows XP in this, but I'll deal with Windows 8 since that's what I have.
@olivetreeann thanks for the info. I hear they designed it for tablets. And touch monitors...so they changed alot. And it seems everything is going to the "cloud" and paying for website services instead of programs actually on the computer ...makes me nervous. I am running vista still....I will either get Windows 7 for my laptop and desktop. Or wait until they do some changes on 8.
I like computers and technology....until it doesn't work, then I am lost. I need someone to show me how to do things, not read the directions. haha! Good picture for today!
the newer the computer, the older i feel because i could never know how to operate them. my laptop isn't used much for anything but for viewing my photos and 365. i only go to 3 websites. and everytime i ask my niece to check it, i discover more use for it which i really don't care about. nice pov on this one and of course, the processing is excellent, as always.
@summerfield Thank you Vikki! I'm having fun with it- and slowly getting used to it. But I still hit buttons on the bottom when I'm typing and then these screens pop up that make absolutely no sense to me! @prttblues Thank you Bev! Actually this was not as expensive as I thought it would be. I really wanted to upgrade my camera and was saving up for a better p & s. But Jeff was complaining so much about my time on 365 and all the writing I do on the computer, so it seemed more logical to bite the bullet and get one. In the end it also worked in my favor because I could still do 365 while I was in Michigan and that was good too.
