This week for the Hang It All challenge we'll be posting the photos we'd hang in our living room over the mantle or over the couch. I have always had a painting hanging over the fireplace or couch so this week I'll change it out with some of my photos using painting effects. This shot was taken in Vermont, just outside of Montpelier.
Beautiful display and a great idea. I enjoyed looking at your family photos and artwork. I may do something like this for the challenge - indoor shots keep me out of that intense heat from our dragged out heatwave we've been having lately.
Perfect shot for the challenge, Ann. I've been out of town (great-granddaughter turned three!) and am behind in posting and commenting. I just looked through yours -- wonderful as always -- and apologize for not commenting on each one.
@prttblues Thanks Bev! I already have a picture there- I just superimposed my picture over it. It's a beautiful barn and was painted by a family relative.
@mzbull Thank you Mz! I'm not sure how the wall ended up turning this color (I really like it though!) as it's a very light tan (which I don't really like but Mr. does).
@maggiemae Thanks Maggie! The marvels of digital photography!
@susale Thanks Suse! I already have a beautiful painting up there. I just merged my photo over it!
@salza Thank you Sally! It's kind of fun to see other things up there, but I still like the painting I already have there best.
@thistle Thank you Joyce! Yes, from left to right: great great grandfather (mother's side), my eldest granddaughter, my parents, my mother as a little girl, my boys as boys!, my father and his sister, my grandmother (father's side) and her twin sister, my dad and his cousin in the army, my father (oval) and his father/my grandfather.
@sangwann Thank you Dione! I think the lamp is more a replica than actually old, but I do have a couple that are old. This one came from my father's house but it's so clean, I don't think it's that old. Yes, all family members- see comment to Joyce for details.
@cimes1 Thank you Carole! You have a treasure trove of things to photograph in your home- go for it!!
@francoise Thanks Francoise! They do. Some of the pictures I'm considering for the week look fine as they are- but I'm so used to seeing a painting up there that I'm turning them all into art!
@pammerritt Thank you Pam! I'm not sure how I ended up with this color as it is not the color of the wall! I wish it was though!
@pyrrhula Thank you Pyrrhula! It's actually a photo I made to look like a painting. There really is a "real" painting above my mantle. I put the picture over it for this shot.
What! I'm the first to fave this??? Your "painterly photo" looks amazing over the mantle and so very suited to this vintage-Americana scene! I adore your rustic mantle and wonder how lovely your home must be that surrounds this!
@nicolecampbell Thank you Nicole! @Weezilou Thank you Louise and thank you so much for both the fav and the lovely compliment! My mantle is a good indication of my home- lots of old things, lots of old pictures and lots of newer pictures of my grands! There is plenty of artsy stuff too.
@pandorasecho Thank you Dixie!

@aikimomm Thanks Phoebe- not a problem!
@taffy Thank you Taffy! That's actually the frame of the painting that's already hanging there with the photo superimposed on it.
@Weezilou Thank you Louise and thank you so much for both the fav and the lovely compliment! My mantle is a good indication of my home- lots of old things, lots of old pictures and lots of newer pictures of my grands! There is plenty of artsy stuff too.
Here's what it usually looks like: http://365project.org/olivetreeann/themes-and-comp/2014-09-10
And I just noticed how crooked it looked!
@radiogirl Thank you Kathy!
I am definitely having fun with this!
