The black stuff you see in the water here is not oil- although there were some oil rigs out there on the horizon (to left of this shot). It's seaweed- LOTS of seaweed. Funny thing though, the next morning, it was all gone.
@allie912@ankers70 It's actually the picture itself- my program makes a frame out of it. Thanks Allison and Suzanne!

The sea tide brings it in, and the tide takes it back out. There was a storm a few days before we arrived- not a big one, but just enough to churn up the ocean. Thank you Dorothy, Helen, Babs, Debbie, Rob and Issi!
@joansmor Hard to compare- each has its own unique beauty. the Maine coastline is definitely more dramatic with its rocky shores, but the coastline at Corpus Christi was absolutely made for swimming and fishing. The water was so pleasant (except for the seaweed the first day). One thing Maine had over Texas was that vehicles could not go on the beach. The beach at Corpus was lined with trucks and vans of fishermen and campers which made it hard to get a good natural shot of the coastline. Also- looking out over the ocean was nicer in Maine because the ocean was "unoccupied" but in Corpus, there were several oil refineries on the horizon. They weren't huge and were obviously environmentally conscious but I missed just looking off into the distance and seeing nothing. Temperature wise- Texas was nice but I'm sure come mid-summer they'll both be equal in heat and humidity. So, all in all- I liked them both and would return to either! Thanks Joan!
Thank you Dawn, Katy, Corinne, Laura, Diana, Katrina, Beryl, Oli, Kathy, Winghong, Bill, Marilyn, Gloria, Suzie, Catherine, Hannah, Carole, Ferry, Kathy, Brian, Harry and Lin!
@johnfalconer Me too! I didn't even like standing in it, although the water felt so good, so I put up with it for a little bit. Then it took forever to shake it loose. Thanks John!
