Yellow Squash by olivetreeann

Yellow Squash

Apple Ridge Farm not only grows several varieties of garlic, they also grow organic vegetables. The beets and tomatoes are being harvested now and it won't be too much longer before the yellow squash is ready to harvest too.

My father was an organic gardener before it became a big deal. My nephew is trying to keep to natural ways to fight insects etc.

My daughter makes delicious fried squash blossoms!

@joansmor Thank you Joan! I have a feeling he will be pretty successful at it. Each one of the farmers we've visited is farming the same way and I was really amazed at how healthy the crops looked. The leaves were all full and lush. So there really is a viable way to farm without using chemicals. I think the key is to either remain small or not grow beyond mid-sized because you're relying more on yourself rather than the chemicals.

@ninaganci Thank you Nina and thank you so much for the fav!

@allie912 Thank you Allison! That sounds interesting. Is it anything like the way they cook Fiddleback Ferns?

@olivetreeann Not having had ferns, I can't be sure. I think these are battered and fried. IMHO, you could batter and fry an eraser and it would taste delicious.

@allie912 You are too funny! They usually do the ferns in butter and garlic, but it sounds like the blossoms are just as tasty in their own way.
