He may have an innocent look on his face but just look at what is at his feet!! A baby robin which I caught him playing with. He then had it in his mouth and just refused to "leave". I had to go inside before he dropped it and then my sister shouted out "walkies" and he ran indoors. It was left to me to get rid of the evidence!!
I was so upset with him especially as the adult robin has been in the garden all afternoon calling out for the baby!!
I know he is naturally a hunter as he is a terrier but I am sure this little baby dropped out of the nest into his mouth!!
Finlay has followed me around all day laying at my feet - he knows he has done wrong and is trying to get round me!! LOL!!
Oh dear, butter wouldn't melt, it's so upsetting when it happens. My cat Charlie is no hunter but like Finlay I choose to think things jump out into his mouth!! When the blackbirds were fledging he met more than his match the parents dive bombed him making sure he went nowhere near their babies!!
Oh dear but I'd have to admit if the baby robin fell out of the nest, there was not much future for him. Couldn't fly, couldn't feed unless parents dropped down to him and that would be dangerous for them too! Funny how dogs just know when you are annoyed with them!
Uh-oh! He probably just found it on the ground. Doubt he climbed a tree. Mind you, our late very lamented Sheba climbed trees incredibly well until she hit Old Age.
Nature is as nature is and sometimes it's hard for us to understand why. Sad that the adult robin is still looking for it's young one. Nice capture of the butter wouldn't melt look
