10th July 2014 - From the Front door - HDR Painterly
For critique from my mentoring group @taffy@888rachel@sullivar@newbank@kmrtn6@golftragic
This is the same shot from my front door given a painterly effect in photomatix. I was amazed to see the amount of reflection in the side of my car - you can see the block paving and the steps up to my house. I am not keen on the overall effect - it's a bit cartoony for me but i love the detail it has brought out. I will be interested in your comments!!
If you hadn't shown the other shot first I don't think the viewer would know it was HDR. I love how the detail and reflection is really brought out in the car but after seeing the other shot I don't like the house over the road.
I cant decide how I feel about the painterly effects yet despite my last couple having used them....It does bring out a lovely look of the car. I don't think even HDR painterly could make my car look like this!!
Quite amazing how much detail the painterly effect brings out, I have always avoided this in Photomatix thinking it was a bit over the top but I think I may revisit this preset, especially if it could make my old car look so shiny and new!
Pam, I'm commenting on the three here together and hope that's okay. I don't think I have anything left to mentor you on for HDR!! The shot you did from your window of all the houses, with the curvy street was as perfect as I could imagine. It looks totally natural and it looks interesting to be able to see the sense of the village. Then, the two of your red car, wow!! Great contrast between the two of them. I agree this one is a little over the top but in good taste, at least from my perspective. I just love the details you picked up in the reflection in your car! The orangy brick is what gives it away as HDR -- not the car -- at least in my opinion. It's a fun shot, and the other two are so clear with great details. Have fun in Yorkshire and safe travels!
