Beautiful church. @terryliv I think St Edmund would probably live in the vicinity.
Is this in Bolton Peter? My Mum lived in Westhoughton for a few years if that counts Terry.
@onewing BothRhoda and I do Genealogy Babs and we have spent many many hours trolling trough old parish churches in England, Scotland and Ireland taking photographs and looking for headstones. Now we cant go past an old church/graveyard without thinking "I wonder if any of our ancestors come from here."
@onewing Its was part of an old estate/ hall/ manor in the middle of the countryside, was used by the estate owners and their staff only, now used for weddings and functions, its a few miles south east of my place, will try to find more details:)
@terryliv Next time I'm there I will check out the headstones and let you know, Jenny is the historian in our house and has traced my family back the late 1700's all my ancestors were farming stock from Lincolnshire with not a penny to their name, lol:)
@terryliv I haven't got any history to this church, my lot came from Yorkshire and Derbyshire, but I have been doing my family history for a few years and I am writing up the story now to go with all the records I have got. Interesting isn't it. We have got a few skeletons too. ha ha.
