The Pierreponts originally came over with William I in 1066 and settled in Nottinghamshire in 1280 when Sir Henry Pierrepont married Annora de Manvers, the six generation of her family to live at Holme. (Later known as Holme Pierrepont.)
The house was built by Sir William Pierrepont around 1500, and has the earliest brickwork in the UK.
the hall is now used for weddings and functions. and the gardens are open to the public.
