My Friday people this week is Jean found her walking along the canal towpath today with her husband from Brighouse to Mirfield approximately 6 miles along the canal, Jean said they are walking the whole length of the canal at 6 mile stages as it's all she can manage, using their free bus pass to travel to the allotted start point walk the six miles then find the nearest bus stop and travel back home and it does not cost them a penny for a full day out in the fresh air.
Ray does similar sometimes - but they stop for a pub lunch! I like the pose here - and those socks. A vety nice portrait. Do you send photos to your subjects, Peter?
@quietpurplehaze Thank you for your comments Hazel I do ask if they would like a copy but some don't want to give out their email Jean did already sent a copy but had no response yet:)
@rosiekind Thank you for your comment and Fav Rosie normally I only take portraits in Jeans case wanted to capture the full outfit, very kindly she agreed to stand and pose where I wanted to include the lock gates:)
@onewing Thank you Babs Jean did seem to be kitted out for all eventualities I was not convinced she needed those sticks on a flat canal towpath walk:)
@dide Thank you Dianne Jean was most surprised I asked to take her photograph she thought I would prefer pretty young things, made her and her husband laugh by saying I photograph beauty in all its forms:)
Jean looks like she could be quite a character.. how brave you are, asking total strangers.. i think this is a lovely environmental portrait, she looks relaxed and 'at home'..
By using two poles Joan will be able to travel/walk for longer and give her upper-body a good work out too, without too much stress/tension within the body.
@onewing They are still popular because of the benefits to all ages when walking,
Tones the upper and lower body at the same time.
Uses 90% of the skeletal muscles.
Burns up to 46% more calories than ordinary walking.
Reduces the pressure on knees and joints.
Great for the Heart and Lungs.
Ideal for neck, shoulder and back problems. well that's what the medical advise says Babs, not my cup of tea especially whilst carrying a camera, bagand tripod, lol:)
