This was St Georges Church in the village of Norwood Green in West Yorkshire, it was built in 1848 and was closed in 2003 then later converted into two residential properties,
it was a very dull and grey day sky was almost washed out played around in Photoshop just to give it a lift using the poster edge filter. BoB
@stray_shooter Thanks Ron I drove into this little village about 5 miles from my place to take the church only to discover it was now used as two houses, what a place to call home:)
Superb PoV Peter.. shame about the car as the lamps add a touch of nostalgia.. this is a particularly fine image with great textures.. love that you kept the setts/cobbles in shot..
we are so fortunate in the 'dirty north' to have such commonplace buildings, they absolutely abound here.. But, unlike you, not many folk actually 'see' them..
@jorlam Thank you for your generous comments, I did crop the car off at the side of the second lamp post but ended up with this version, it may sound sad but your correct I do seek out dirty northern interesting buildings to photograph:)
@pcoulson Peter, nothing sad about it - i love these old buildings.. where i grew up it was all horrid red brick, an awful 'smack in the face' hue. to live here with all these gorgeous mellow stone buildings is wonderful.. i've taken many photographs myself, especially around Little Germany as well as Hudds with it's dirty mills etc. Modern buildings are fine for reflections but for character one has to look to the past.
And it will cost to heat!
