The Ship Public House by pcoulson

The Ship Public House

The old ship Inn is an old fashioned Real Ale House located in Brighouse in West Yorkshire.
The History of The Old Ship Inn:-
Built from the strong wood of a 101-gun First rate ship of the line in the Royal Navy named the 'HMS Donegal'
HMS Donegal was commissioned in 1858 and has sailed the world over and has been involved in many battles and missions all over the world. The last Confederate ship during the American civil war, the 'CSS Shenandoah' Surrendered to HMS Donegal
The Donegal was sent back to land in 1923 and was broken up for its valuable timber which became the bones of The Prince of Wales Inn which in 2007 was renamed The Old Ship Inn to rekindle the honour that may have been forgotten of this great vessel.
I would come if I could!! We used to live in Donegal Road.....
