My Garden July 2018

Continuing on from @photobird another shot of my back garden, one month on from the last one.

Another absolutely gorgeous day here in the Shire, we enter our 8th straight week of no meaningful rainfall (people will stop harking back to 1976 if this continues) and as you can see, the lawn has suffered tremendously; I’m not taht worried, grass recovers quickly.

The Dhalias are all up, with one or two in flower, the agapanthus, the hydrangeas are all receiving human intervention most days to keep them alive with nightly watering. My water butt is completely dry, and we’re having to supplement the water from the outside tap with miracle-grow due to the water softener we had fitted last year. I’m hoping for a better colour display next month as the Dahlias should all be out in full flower (maybe)

All of the previous photographs are now tagged philsgarden and if you wish to see it change through the months (obviously only if you feel that way inclined and have nothing better to do) then click on that tag.
Our extreme heat is wreaking havoc on our lawns and flowers. I’m pretty sure only the hardiest plants will survive. At least your beds will have some color!

We have had such a long drought and still on water restrictions since last October. After some good winter rains, the lawn has almost completely recovered.

It disheartening when this happens

As you say it will recover!

I agree it will recover. Reminds me of our lawn in Cyprus during the summer months. Our lawn here in Oz doesn't get quite this bad but it is quite patchy in summer. We only water our plants and not the lawn, prefer to save the water to deal with bushfires rather than have a beautiful lawn. Plus, who wants to mow the lawn when it is 35-42 degrees C.

wow, the grass area is very arid, but the gardens with some shade are very welcome

my lawn looks like yours - it's actually crispy! hope we all get some rain soon!

Oh, what a dreadful sight for July... one would expect green green grass at home in summer.
