Long day today, our furthest trip planned for the week; a trip back in memory lane to the North East of the island where we were stationed back in ‘95-‘98, Ayios Nikolaos.
We then headed from there to Ayia Napa, the once fishing village and now mecca for twenty-somethings; the ancient monastey in the centre was our desination.
The motorway, that was being built when we were here in the late ‘90s, has massively shortened the journey time between Paphos and Ay Nik, but on the way back to our villa, we detoured off the motorway onto the old coastal road and stopped at one of the viewing points for the sunset over Aphrodite’s Rock.
It is here, so it is said, that Aphrodite, the Greek Goddess of Love, waded out of the sea in ancient times.
Thank you for your continued views, comments and favs on yesterday’s offering. Much appreciated.
A beautiful scene and what a memorial day you have had. I had the best ever kleftiko in a café at Ayia Napa in ther 80s just before it became touristy.
