As you've seen from Carole's photograph today, we've been to Bradgate Park in Leicestershire. It's the rutting season, so we hoped we would get to see the Alpha Male, and possibly a few other juvenile males. What we didn't expect to see was the Alpha Male rutting with one of the juniors.
This lasted around 10-15 minutes; neither was giving an inch. Lots of bellowing, lots of clashing of antlers and a few times when it looked like one was going to suffer a stomach injury. Thankfully, the only thing hurt was pride (and that was junior)
The really funny thing was, whilst these two were going hammer and tongs at each other, a third male was running around stealing the females. When this was over, and the loser had scuttled away, the Alpha Male was doing 360 degree turns looking for his harem - which was long gone.
Thank you for your continued follows, views, comments and favs; always appreciated.
