As well as snowdrops and witch hazel, our friend, Sylvie has a hellebore in bloom just outside her front door. I'm beginning to think she has a special small micro-climate around her house.
This flower was hanging its head down to the ground, as they often do, so I confess that this shot is one of those 'stick-the-camera-under-its-nose-and-hope-for-the-best' ones. (In my defence, I did set the aperture!)
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Agree with the micro climate idea !! I know you are further south than me ,but most of my garden is a muddy mess at the moment !! Beautiful macro Hazel
You did great. I don`t think I`ve the patient to do so . I `ll turn it upside down and hold it with a stick. The Hellebore has so many beautiful species with different petals You beautiful pic. show`s a very beautiful one
It's worked really well Hazel, I tried that with some snowdrops on Monday (way too wet to lie on the ground - a bit too public too!) but mine didn't work! Love the colours here.
The light from behind really highlights the detail. From the close-up I thought hellebore must be a variety of a clematis vine. I looked it up and the plants look nothing alike, but this flower looks so similar
I think it' the pov that makes it look like a clematis. When our hellebores come out (still in bud) I'll take one and flag it up to you so you can see a more realistic view!
Paula, thanks. I think it would be just too hard given the size of a snowdrop!

Thanks for your comments and favs on my pics, Gerry. Hope you are feeling much better.
We're all fine, thanks, Gerry.
