the old range, in the kitchen...

... at The Hospital of St Cross and Almshouse of Noble Poverty.

Anyone fancy cooking tomorrow's Sunday roast on this?
Love it, super bricks/textures/soot! Thank goodness for modern hobs/ovens! (It probably tasted good though!)

I expect many a splendid meal was cooked on that old range, don't think I would like to try it now. Wonderful picture.

Oooh !! Can you imagine the delicious flavour of a spit-roast done in front of the great log-fire with potatoes roasting in the pan below and being basted with the drippings from the roast above !----I could carry on !! Lovely capture Hazel but loos as if the black -leading has not been done for some time !!

Glad we have more modern appliances today but I do still cook on top of the wood burning stove for economy! Well done on your well deserved recognition

I can't even cook a roast properly in an electric oven! Love the texture of the bricks, the soot, the composition, but definitely would give up cooking if this was what I had to use..
