Libraries have sure evolved since I was a kid. The local library's summer reading program includes some fleld trips. I participated in a trip to a glass blowing studio. This was one of the members of my group who has been undergoing chemotherapy. She had a good time blowing her piece of glass which will be a tumbler.
That is awesome that they let you blow the glass- I've often wondered how much breath is required to make the pieces they do. And how great your friend was able to do it! Good shot!
@olivetreeann The answer, because he cautioned us to start with puffs, is apparently not as much as we think, at least for these small items. Now there were some big items for sale too. Thank you. @kwind Thanks Kim @craftymeg Thank you Margaret. @pyrrhula Thank you Ferry. I, too, had seen this before, but had never actually participated. @cocobella I will show the tumbler I made when I get it. It had to cool slowly (over 24 hours), so we couldn't take our items home the same day. One of the library staff members is planning to go back today or tomorrow to pick them up.
@haskar@s4sayer It was a fascinating day that went by fast. Took tons of photos, but the lighting made it difficult to capture good photos. Thank you both for your comments. Margo, I hope you find a place to do this.
@will_wooderson I hope to see the finished products soon. I asked the library staff member who was to pick them up to take a photo so we could see all the them.
