A gift of soup

My good friend of over 30 years has dementia and her family is staying with her in her home. At this point, I'm clueless as to what to give her as a present, so I decided I would make soup and some ham and cheese sandwiches so that she and her family would have a little something different to eat. Of course I had to set some aside for myself. You know to make sure it tastes OK.
What a fabulous gift idea. I'm sure they will be thrilled!

I can't imagine anything more wonderful...they will love it.

How wonderful!

We often have to “taste” things at our house before we share them, too!
This is a wonderful gesture of kindness!

That's so thoughtful of you. I feel so sad about your dear friend.

Soup would have been the most wonderful gift, I feel certain.

It's almost impossible to give a food gift without checking it out before it arrives at its destination. Your tasting vigilance is admirable ;-)

What a good idea, Dementia is such a cruel disease.

If it tasted as good as it looks... it was excellent. And what a lovely thought, Kathy.

Thank you one and all. I got a text from her daughter and she said that my friend ate an entire sandwich (I included those wonderful ham and swiss with poppy seed rolls) and some soup. Made my heart jump for joy.

@randystreat
You are a good friend :)

@jb030958 I hope so. I don't go as often as I could because I hate seeing her like she is. Isn't that terrible. I'm human, though.

Good for you! Broccoli soup?

@randystreat
No Kathy it’s not terrible. My mother-in-law has dementia and my husband only visits 2 or 3 times a month. It’s so hard on him.

@jb030958 I went through this as well with my mother so I understand. I did do a better job of visiting her more frequently than I'm doing with my friend. This is probably why.
