@joemuli Thank you Joey. @shutterbug49 It is an interesting insect and easy to think it was a big bee or wasp. Thanks Debbie. @rhoing It is a clearwing moth, Hummingbird Moth (Hemaris thysbe). I never saw one that I know of until the past several years. Guess I didn't spend as much time checking out my flowers as I have in my retirement/COVID stay at home-ness. Thanks Thom. @haskar Thank you on all counts Hannah. @kjarn Thank you Kathy. I probably should have cropped it a bit closer to be able to see the proboscis a bit better. @pusspup They do seem to move like a hummingbird (hence the name hummingbird moth). They don't sit down on the plant - they hover. Thanks Wylie. @grammyn Yes it is, Katy. Thanks so much for your comments. @mirroroflife Thank you Pete. Was trying to work on my challenge. I've not got it yet.
@olivetreeann These moths are interesting aren't they. Thank you Ann. @30pics4jackiesdiamond The swallowtail butterflies are coming slowly but surely and there were black ones in the garden so I went out to get a photo of them. Surprise. I got this too. Thank you Jackie. @jacqbb It is. The first time I saw one of these moths I thought it was a hummingbird but not quite. People had been posting them on this site and I decided to research a bit. Bonanza! We have them here and I saw one! I've seen one a couple of times this summer but they are a still a rare sighting for me. Thank you Jacqueline. @pyrrhula Thank you Ferry.
@thewatersphotos Thank you Gary. It's actually a hummingbird or clearwing moth. @amyk Thank you Amy. The zinnias are thriving this summer and I didn't even plant most of them. They are volunteers.

@shutterbug49 It looks a lot like a moth I see in southern Illinois: Snowberry Clearwing — https://365project.org/tags/snowberry%20clearwing
