Thank you all for your views and comments. The needles are Caspian Double Pointed Needles sold at KnitPicks.com. They are layers of laminated birch. I have several other sets and really like them. I'm knitting a pair of mittens; using up my stash yarn to make hats and mittens for donating to the local law enforcement when they give Christmas gifts later in the year. So far I have 3 pairs of mittens, 10 hats and 1 scarf done. I'll keep at it because it's fun and a big part of my social life (needlework groups) these days.
Looks pretty and the needles sound really interesting. Could you use them for crochet too? I'm thinking they might be a good Christmas gift for Lucy. She crochets but doesn't knit.
