As we were approaching the 911 Memorial, I glanced upward to see a plane flying between the towers, then emerge on the other side. Safe and sound. I'm sitting at JFK getting ready to board my flight home, thinking about the leap of faith it is to blithely surrender your control to a pilot and co- pilot you've never met, hoping they make wise choices and that the plane hangs together as you eat chips and drink soda in your cramped little seat, hoping for a smooth landing.
