We went to the theatre today to see a play called Dr Zemmelweiss - he was the Hungarian doctor who discovered that washing hands saved the lives of women giving birth, and their babies, in the late 18th century. And of course he was ridiculed by the medical profession. Play was excellent but a tough watch
It is a fascinating story. It was actually safer to give birth at home than in a hospital until Dr. Zemmelweiss. Thank goodness the medical profession started to pay attention. Interesting pov.
A lovely shot of the theatre, and a fascinating sounding play. I wonder how often the medical profession have rejected a simple new idea that turns out to be a life saver?
