French for chickpeas. I love the word ‘chiche’ but I’ve no idea how the French came up with it. This was tonight’s supper, a recipe from the cookbook I made, together with my sister in law, of my mother’s recipes - or at least my interpretation of them. Mum never wrote anything down !
Are you a vegetarian or are you simply eating more plant based foods? i ask because I think I might need to eat in that mode. This looks tasty, although chickpeas are not my favorite legume or pulse as I'm seeing them recently called.
@randystreat hey Kathy, no I’m
Not vegetarian although i used to be and I don’t eat red meat. We came to England as refugees in the 50s so my mum’s cooking was restricted by costs so we only ate meat on special occasions. So we did eat lots of pulses and grains and I often revert to that style of cooking. It’s more work up front but it’s tasty, filling and great for leftovers and to turn into a soup.
