I work very close to the Midland mainline and see these trains going back and forth all day. This particular one is an Intercity 125 and over 40 years old. They regularly run at 125 mph and still hold the fastest diesel train record of 148 mph! Not bad for something nearly as old as me! However their days are numbered as the line is now electrified and newer locomotives will soon run on this line.
@casablanca thanks. I used to only shoot steam trains but with covid there's little chance for that! @rontu thanks. Yes they move pretty fast on this line had to keep the shutter speed quite high.
