This cicada looked quite spooky with its empty eye covers and the split down its back allowed you to see right through to the other side. Truly an empty shell.
I took a picture of an empty cicada shell a couple of years back. It's the empty eye sockets that always get my attention when I look at the picture again. Amazing how an insect splits out of its shell and leaves the casing so perfectly intact.
@lyndemc All so right. And whatever I did with the camera the eyes still looked really spooky. Had a big snake in our back yard today so will have to use his photo - he was pretty impressive!
