"King of the Castle" - Castles and leaves

Being short of actual castles in this part of the world the phrase "King of the Castle" has come to mean "at the top". It signifies different things at different stages of life eg as a child it can mean the top of a pile of dirt, while for an adult it can mean at the top of your profession. This little ant is obviously the King of his leafy castle.
Fantastic capture!

I love the perspective. He looks like he at least considers himself king of the castle! : )

@tibles @echomeier Hi. Thanks for the comments. Ants seem to be the insect of photographic choice for me. They are always doing something interesting, they wave their antennae around to give little motion waves in the photo and sometimes they just sit perfectly still - just like this fellow did.

Your macro shot of this armored character shows a lot of detail; this one has almost purple legs!

@lyndemc Hi Denise - thanks for your comment. Still trying to branch out a bit - focus on some bigger things - but ants are so fascinating!

It looks like a knight in black armour defending it's castle! Great POV!

@purdey Thanks Sharon - I love your amoured knight vision - he even has that tough look on his face. The whole POV concept was new to me - big learning curve!
