On our visit to the big smoke we had dinner in a little restaurant which has sprung up in one of the laneways. We didn't realize until later that the real action was happening in another laneway reached by following the avenue of lights.
I am wondering where you would define as "The Big Smoke!" For us, it is London although usually I call it going to Town with a capital T. Going to town with a small t is going locally. Isn't language usage a funny thing?
@casablanca How true - language (and its uses) is just fascinating. The Big Smoke is actually a bit of an irony here - we just went up to Brisbane - the capital of our state Queensland. It's not really that big - we commented today that the Gold Coast (our home town - about 90km South of Brisbane and sprawled along the coastline) would have a lot more highrise buildings than Brisbane. When I was little my Mum always made us get dressed up if we went to the City! Now everybody just wears whatever - pretty casual. Stanthorpe ( where we have the funny little farm) is very country - not even any traffic lights!! :)
@granagringa Thanks Madelaine - I'm pleased you like this - I was pretty happy with it - the spot metering seems to allow for all sorts of interesting combinations. Cheers
