Deadly nightshade now identified as Woody Nightshade
How can such a pretty flower be so deadly poisonous?!!! I just like how I've caught the light on this shot. I was really trying to get some pics of the reed warblers but they weren't playing game. I have since learned that this is Woody Nightshade or bittersweet. Deadly nightshade is quite rare but this is still poisonous
I went to see the old lady in hospital this morning and took her some Lucozade and grapes. Her drip had been taken down and when I helped her to have a drink, she drank the whole beaker of Lucozade. If only the nurses or health care assistants could just take the trouble to help, patients would recover so much quicker. She was still in bed which is worrying as she will soon lose the use of her legs if she is not mobilised. Despite keep telling staff that she was totally independent before admission, they just don't seem to want to know. It is so frustrating.
Always been frightened of this plant when I read that just two or three of the dark seductively shiny, cherry like fruits can kill a child! Pheasants eat the berries with out any side effects but I banish it from the garden. Every part of the plant is poisonous.
I empathize with your frustration. Similar experiences in my professional and private lives.
