I was really pleased to see the swallows this morning and at first I didn't realise that so many of them were fledglings. I stood and watched the parents gathering flies to feed them and managed to get a few shots of them actually feeding the little ones which is not easy. This is probably the best one as you can actually see the adult ramming food in the youngster's beak. The parents don't stop for anything and they seem to be able to get the food into the youngster's beak without any effort. They don't stop flying so it really is fast food! I will post a shot of one of the youngsters in my Bits & Bobs album.
It was difficult to choose which ones to post today as I had a robin singing in our silver birch tree and I will probably post that tomorrow. Initially I was going to post a greenfinch who was dripping wet on the feeders yesterday. Oh dear I shouldn't take so many pics! I do love the birds though
@ladymagpie Thanks. It is not easy getting a shot of them doing this as the parent doesn't land but pokes the food in to the waiting youngsters, I took a load of shots to get this
I love bird shots too, so I understand your dilemma! This is a great shot- and swallows really are fast so you did a great job in catching this mid-flight!
