Just one of the many chaffinches sitting in the silver birch tree waiting his turn at the feeders. The chaffinches tend to be ground feeders so I have put suet balls on the ground and they also catch the sunflower seeds that the goldfinches and greenfinches drop.
Beautiful shot, Rosie, and nice to know that some people are allowed to feed the birds. It is forbidden where I live because of some paranoia about attracting rats.
A lovely shot, sharp yet soft. I never thought to put the fat balls on the ground. Mine are hanging up and are largely left untouched. They seem to like the meal worms better than the sunflower seeds. Most of the sunflower seeds are left.
@wordpixman What a shame Arthur that you can't feed the birds. My father in law moved into a care home before he died and he wanted to feed the birds from his window but the staff stopped him from doing it mainly I think because they were worried about droppings. It was a shame because he loved birds so I understand what you mean.
