I've been to Campton today to try to get a Good Neighbour Group up and running. I visited the coffee morning at the church. The church is used for all sorts of events and they recently had a rock band performing there! It's a good idea to use churches for the benefit of the community rather than just for church goers as it is getting people together which is what Christianity should be about.
Anyway, the Nativity scene set up in the church was so lovely that I thought I should take a picture of it. It is made by the children in the village and the church warden told me that the figures are made from covered lemonade bottles. Over the years they have had to repair the figures and keep them going. The children all carry one of the figures up to the scene and she said that they are so reverent when they bring them into the church. The innocence and belief of children is such a wonderful thing and I love to hear them singing. It always brings a lump to my throat.
I know that it is nearly 12th night when all the decorations, etc. should be taken down but I thought that I would post this anyway. It was taken with my new lens with manual focus and I especially took my camera with the lens attached as I know that lighting in churches is not always great.
While I was there, we experienced thunder and lightning, heavy rain and wind. By the time I left it was only raining a little bit so I made a mad dash for the car. There was a lovely rainbow as I drove back to the office as the sun had come out but I couldn't find anywhere sensible to stop to get a pic
