The male mallard at the front of the picture looked as though he was offering his support for one of the ducks as they were fighting ferociously! Perhaps it was over a female who was sitting on the bank also watching the affray. It's spring time and it's the sort of time when they are trying to pair up and I am ever watchful that our mallard pair will start walking up the garden again. I've got the duck food in the cupboard all ready.
They always scare me when they fight like that I know ducks can be pretty vicious though. My mom saw a duck kill a duckling before and she said she'll never look at them the same way :)
