Safe and well

This is the chestnut mare I was so concerned about over Christmas. She seems to be rugged up and snug in her stable today so I was pleased as she was in the field a few days ago and looked quite forlorn! She always seems to look at me from a distance as though she wished I could go and stroke her and give her a carrot! I wish I could but there are 2 gates between me and her so I cannot give her a stroke even in good weather. Poor thing! What shall we call her because I don't know her name
Lovely animal; sorry if she's feeling a bit hors de combat. Now, there's a name for her!

Good to know you're still having an eye on her. I think she's just lonesome. Horses shouldn't be kept on their own ( they never come to rest then).Suggest Solitaire ( French for lonesome)

I love her colour - sorry I'm no good at horse names.

I'd quite fancy the name 'Mona Lisa' as she seems untouchable to you, as is the painting to us, and the mares ambiguous expression reminds me of that of Mona Lisa too!

@wordpixman @khirsch @mejbronant @gerry @quietpurplehaze @busylady @rwhite @chris17 @skstein @carolmw Thanks for your kind comments. This mare really needs a friend so I rather like the name Solitaire or Mona Lisa as I think they are both appropriate. I wish they would get her a goat or a shetland pony for company because I'm sure she would be pleased to have friend

@rosiekind your right there, it important for them to have company, not only because o having a companion, but being animals living in herds they have to rely on one of the herd to "be on guard" while the others can rest, if there's no others they never rest properly
