Ready to Ride

I have been challenged in the Get Pushed - week 2 to take a portrait shot.
This is one of my attempts, people are not my forte!
There were a small group getting ready to go for an out ride when I got back from mine and I asked if I could take some pictures of them.

Nice with the horse in it. How did you ask? I'm looking for tips here. I haven't found any way that feels right.

@tigerdreamer After I had ridden they were getting ready to ride and standing next to my car so I asked if I could take some pictures and why I wanted to do it. I also told them that I would email copies to the owners of the horses and they could get copies from them!

This is a nice shot. Shame about the bit of shadow from his hat but I guess you couldn't really ask him to get undressed for you...
