Fire Chopper by salza

Fire Chopper

It seems that the fire that raged in the mountains for 8 days has reared it's ugly head once again! The authorities are reporting that there are around 15 fires in the Western Cape at present. It's all quite scary and sad. To think of all the wildlife that is taken is very sad. The vegetation will grow back and in fact some of the natural fynbos needs to burn for the seeds to germinate.

Lovely capture of the helicopter. Nice pop of red against the sky

It even was on the news here in The Netherlands today, luckily no reported casualties yet but so much land and wildlife lost. Hope the Cape will have a relieve from the heat and that the firefighters will get the fires under control soon, such a beautiful landscape now under threat. NIce shot of the helicopter

I hope the fires resolve quickly without too much more damage.

so sad to hear this Sally. As you know, Cape Town is suffering the same. I believe Klien Constantia and Cape Point are being affected. Not sure how many homes have been burnt, and people evacuated in early hours of the morning. Very frightening and scary.
I hope you stay safe, as this looks like it is very close to you

Really sad to see this on the news. Love Cape Town and got lots of friends in the Hout Bay area - they've said Chapmans Peak is badly affected. Hopefully it'll be controlled soon :-(

Fabulous capture of the chopper. Hope today's cooler weather brought some relief. The fires are unbelievable this year. My sis-in-law (in Tokai) was evacuated at 2am this morning. Scary stuff.

Oh Sally, as I've said before, we Californians know all about raging fires. Like you, it's the loss of wildlife that breaks my heart, and such a terribly way to die. It always causes me a great deal of pain even to think about it.

Not something we tend to experience here in the UK but it must be very worrying. Nice focus on the helicopter.

Super shot.

Events like this remind me that Mother Nature is not always kind. It's even worse if it's caused by human error. I do hope the efforts of the fire fighters help to control the fire and then to put it out. Good shot!
