Mah Jong

This old box filled of Mah Jong tiles has been highly contested for a long long time until now it lives with me. I never really was part of the manic discussions about who and why a particular family member should inherit it. I didn't really understand why family would lay their life down for it. In saying that I have managed to complete the set with the extras that had been lost over the years.
A nice way to memorialize shared memories of family time. I can still hear the sound of the mahjong tiles being mixed whenever my parents and their friends played -- about 45 years ago now. I wonder why your box says Moon Flower?

Used to have a set but could never work out how to play it properly. Nice composition

@jyokota Thank you Junko for stopping by and, also for giving me the meaning of the inscription on the box. We have never known it meant Moon Flower. This belonged to my husbands family and they played it in the 1920's.

@francesc We play with another old set, it is very social and fun. Easy enough to learn off those who play, that's how I learnt.

I still play it. All my kids, grandkids play too. And our set has only Chinese Characters for numbers!
