Challenge - 8km walk beside the rising Wairoa River

The first obstacle was a large rock to shimmy around riverside. It had a rope to hold on to and was on a steep sidle above the river. Erosion on the track presented slippery and narrow footholds in the light rain. These wind falls from 20+m trees slowed my walk. The burst shows my pathway around this one. Apart from the eight rising river crossings solo not yet in flood but fast-flowing and a lot of water flow I needed to get cracking. 14 Dec 2021, 8km
A most definite challenge, not for the faint hearted.

@jesika2 Hi Jesika, I'm reliving my thru-hike and using this space to sort my photographs. I agree, if I had only known....... but I have lived through the fear to tell the story.
