Cyclone Gabrielle is approaching. My barometer is at the lowest (980hPa) I have recorded in 20 years. The spot I keep marked on the old barometer since it was calibrated by an old mariner years ago.
Delivery of my new kitchen has been postponed a day once the high winds have passed. Let's hope it passes without too much damage.

Tauranga has missed the brunt but it is an unusual weather event followed by heavy rain event two weeks ago in the same area. Lots of flooding, slips and direct signs of global warming leaving a list of actions to take in our biggest most congested area in NZ.
