At last we arrived in the dining room and we marvelled at its beauty. We felt so belittled, being dressed in our jeans and T-shirts. We had not washed since the morning and were so embarassed. After a few minutes, the mayor came in dressed in jeans and T-shirt too and after a short introduction we sat at table. Christine appeared confused on which of the cutlery she should use – there were several forks and knives of different sizes at each place - and I gave her a wink of encouragement. Then a waiter in full uniform came in carrying a large silver platter covered with a large dome-shaped cover, also in solid silver. He left everything on the table and left without a word. The mayor lifted the cover and there were 3 take-away meals from MacDonald’s. The mayor grabbed his burger with both hands and munched on it happily while we sat there looking with open mouths in disbelieve. End of story.
At the beginning of my Royal Palace story I wrote (quote) “You won’t believe this” and I’m sure you didn’t. But for those who did I apologise for taking you for a ride, but I did this in good faith, to put a smile on your faces.
Seriously, the palace was a gem of a place with paintings, amazing furniture and other objects of art. There was also an armoury with some beautiful pieces of armour. I was not allowed to take pictures there.
Thank you very much for your lovely comments. They are so very much appreciated.
Ooer think I have missed something along the way being absent and all that, lovely shot, I was going to comment something about cutlery until I read your story:0) very much enjoyed
Look at the opulence in that room- wow- is there anything that isn't gilded?! Enjoyed your little story- pretty much believed everything up to the very end- although I did think it odd you wouldn't have freshened up a bit! Nice shot!
The room is a little overdone for me. The pic of it is great
