Apple Sunday at Pitmedden by sarah19

Apple Sunday at Pitmedden

The end of summer? Last Sunday in September is always the big apple and pear festival at the gardens and once again the weather was kind.
Last year there had been the worst crop for a long time. This time they had double crop and hundreds of cars in the field (extra car park!) so it was quite a day. The colours are all beginning to change but the light was still very special. And tomorrow there will be apple crumble for tea............and I must find some interesting things to do with the apples I also bought!
Mary Berry does a very nice Apple an Cinnamon cake - you may find the recipe on the internet. It has a layer of grated apple in the middle. I've never been to an apple day - this looks quite inviting.

@sarah19 well I would give them the neighbours but our houses were built in an old orchard and everybody has a glut at this time of year so I wouldn't be thanked!
