Unique Day by sarah19

Unique Day

Well......I have been to vote!
Never been at 7am before and there was a queue. Usually there are two desks issuing voting papers, today there are four.
It's going to be a busy day.

Three good things:
1. We are very privileged to have this vote in a peaceful UK which I will never take for granted.
2. The sun is not shining.....perhaps makes people reflect on what they are doing!!
3. Felt really proud of our son David last night. His Facebook status read:
Dear Scotland.
Whatever your vote tomorrow, please use it. It's a pleasure to see such an involvement from everyone in political discussion. Yes, I know you'll be glad to get your Facebook feed back but tomorrow please take the time out to vote. It's a privilege people have fought and died to get. It's a privilege not everyone has. As for us Scots living abroad, we don't have the opportunity to join in with our two pence worth but have been following the Fatherland closely and will be tuned in all day tomorrow! So go make your voice heard and take part in some of Scotland's modern history.
Lots of love, the Expats.
Meanwhile he was preparing Haggis.....made from scratch.....to have an Independence / Better together party! They are hanging the Saltire at their school in Kiev today!!
And sister Laura in Melbourne shared it on her page too. They would both have loved to have a vote.

Whatever the outcome I particularly appreciate all my friends and family in England, Wales and Northern Ireland today!
Well said Sallie...a momentous day indeed for Scotland! An outrageous decision not to let born & raised Scottish citizens have a vote yet kids at Scottish uni who will be returning to their own country have an input ....I suppose they know all the older & expats will vote No & younger ones vote Yes.

@happypat I could not agree more with all of the above. I'm English, proudly so, and truthfully I think we are all better together. Our resources should all be shared, both ways, as evenly as possible, and I get quite cross with all these people, worldwide, who can't seem to live with a majority rule. I too have never voted for the party that won, despite having voted on every occasion, but that doesn't mean I don't live by the majority rule.

And in case it gets lost - this is a very good image for today from Sallie, set's the tone beautifully!

@exidia there will be trouble whatever the vote Fiona.....lots of unrest unleashed. ......a sad day for the UK.....I can't believe it's all escalated so quickly, even if No wins half of Scotland won't be happy & half of England will want more! Disaster!

It will be very interesting to see how this turns out

Yes I think there will be repercussions for years to come, whatever the outcome. I hope that there will be some positive changes for Scotland whatever the result. I have a personal interest as my middle son was born in Scotland - in Ayr and we lived in West Kilbride for three years. Such a beautiful country.

Oh well, relieved this morning.....hoping I can cope today as I had my phone radio with ear phones under my pillow and on most of the night. Heard on and off how things were going!

I did hear it on the news this morning, Sarah. I hope you can get some rest today.

I have not had time to read further on this and was just hoping that whatever the outcome, good would prevail. Hopefully I'll be able to catch up on the news soon. Good shot for a momentous day. (And I think it's awful that those living outside the borders are not allowed to mail their votes in. Thankfully Americans can do that.)
