Well ....in spite of the fact that I'm more than a little nervous about water...Laura and Iain organised for us to go kayaking.
Here we are ready for off.....I was feeling very anxious at the start but once I had to focus on paddling there was no option but to keep going.
It was a pretty good day/evening for it, gentle breeze in places and only 'met' one boat that created some waves, round the harbour and up the Yarra River, under a few bridges as light fading and some spectacular fireball display as we paddled up near the city centre. Unforgettable experience!
1. Overcoming fears
2. Just do one thing at a time.
3. Brief stop for fish and chips after the initial warm up.
You did well. I would not even get into a kayak! There's something about the juxtaposition of the kayak with all those tall buildings which makes this shot interesting.
I learnt to swim when I was in my 30s, both our children having shamed me when they were young. I hated swimming lesssons in a cold pool at grammar school (we girls had periods lasting weeks and weeks!) but learnt without too much fuss in a warm pool at an adult ed class. It's now one of my fav hobbies, relaxations!
I wish I was in better shape so that I could get in and out of a kayak. They are much more relaxing than a row boat I think. Good for you on taking on the challenge. This was a great way to do it- and having Allan with you probably made a huge difference. What a great shot too!

Oh thank you for your lovely comments! It's like a dream and the fact that Allan was behind me and paddling together certainly made a difference.
Next challenge has to be 'learn to swim' !
