Through the garden gate

I pass this way on my papershop jog in the morning and it's a rather special gate. My lovely friend Doreen lives here.
When we first moved to Oldmeldrum in 1984.....how can it be?.....we were only in the house 20 minutes when Doreen and her friend who lived across the road, arrived to welcome us as they had been friendly with Eve who lived in that house before us. It was so reassuring!
She's been a great friend through pregnancies, snowstorms, broken legs (the boys not mine!!) sunshine, husband working away, and so much more.
And not least one of my Thursday evening housegroup friends who have met in this house for over 25 years, sharing faith, prayers and everything life throws our way. Through these last months we have Zoomed each week and managed some get togethers...even a tea and cake party on the patio when that was possible.
I can't imagine life without them. Truly a gift from God!!!
And it works both ways of course.
Three good things
1. Love my jogging route as I pass by the houses of most of my house group friends!
2. A lovely sunny day at school.
3. Gin and tonic......always a treat! Edinburgh rhubarb and ginger...I don't usually have it on school nights but term finishes tomorrow for 2weeks!!
So wonderful to share life’s peaks and valleys with loving friends. I hope she can manage okay by herself now. A G&T? I think I will have one too, great idea! I feel a little entitled since I cleaned out my clothes today, filled the back of my husband’s large SUV, and took everything to a shelter for abused women. I still have a lot more to do but at least it’s a start.

A lovely post Sallie...good neighbours are a real blessing & as you say it does work both ways & I know without a shadow of a doubt that Doreen will say the same.
Long may you be neighbours! I have loved Rhubarb & ginger gin too but just lately have gone off it a bit....must give it a break I think.
